Big Sky's Fall Closures Come in Shifts, and the Tightest Week Follows Halloween

Big Sky doesn't shut down all at once between ski seasons. According to Visit Big Sky's 2026 Fall Dining Guide, Town Center and Meadow Village kitchens close and reopen on different dates, spread from late September into the second week of December. Because of the staggering, Town Center never runs out of places to eat. The real squeeze is short and has exact dates. It starts the Monday after the Haunted Peaks Halloween Festival and runs through the first full week of November, when several of the valley's coffee counters and The Waypoint all take their breaks at the same time.

If you know which days those are, the off-season gets much simpler.

The first shift is already underway

As of the first weekend in October, some favorites have already closed. Scoops closed on 9/23 and lists a return after 11/27. Big Sky Noodles and Michaelangelo's Ristorante both closed on 9/27. Ousel and Spur started its break on 10/03.

The second shift comes in the back half of October. The guide lists these dates:

  • Olive B's in Meadow Village closes 10/16 and stays closed through 12/7.
  • The Wrap Shack closes October 23 and stays closed until mid-November.
  • Alberto's closes 10/24 and stays closed through 12/04.
  • Gourmet Gals lists weekday hours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., only through 10/30.

October has one more thing going for it. The calendar stays busy even as kitchens close. Big Sky Community Week runs October 5 through 9, and the organizers say every event is free and open to the public. Monday's lineup starts with Community Coffee from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and ends with State of the Community from 5 to 8 p.m. The following week, Town Center's calendar lists Hummus & Wine at The Waypoint on Monday, October 12, trivia there on Wednesday the 14th, a Drunken Monk DJ night on Thursday the 15th, karaoke on Friday the 16th, and WMPAC's Jeki Yoo show on Sunday the 18th.

The kitchens open through the whole fall

What holds Town Center together is a group of businesses that list daily hours with no closure dates in this year's guide. Grouped by the time of day you'd need them:

  1. Early mornings. Hungry Moose Market & Deli opens at 6:30 a.m., and so does Country Market in Meadow Village. Blue Moon Bakery opens at 8 a.m. Caliber Coffee runs 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and closes at 1 p.m. on Sundays.
  2. Lunch. Terrain Tacos at Gravity Haus serves from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Rocks Tasting Room runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pinky G's Pizzeria and Beehive Basin Brewery both open at noon. In Meadow Village, Mi Pueblito Taco Bus parks by ACE Hardware and serves seven days a week, opening at 11 a.m. on weekdays, 10 a.m. on Saturdays and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.
  3. Late dinners. Beehive Basin Brewery and Terrain Tacos both serve until 10 p.m. every night. Hungry Moose, Roxy's Market and Blue Moon Bakery stay open until 9.

A second group keeps reduced but steady schedules. Thai Basil serves daily, closing at 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 p.m. on Sundays. Yeti Dogs serves lunch five days a week and is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Haunted Peaks is the last big weekend before the squeeze

Big Sky Town Center's 2026 Haunted Peaks Halloween Festival runs Friday, October 30, through Sunday, November 1. Town Center bills it as an all-ages, three-day festival. Its listed lineup includes a Mini Monster Mash kids party, a Yappy Hour costume contest for pets and their people, horror films and a costume pub crawl. The events with published times and venues:

Beehive Basin Brewery opens at 11:30 a.m. for a block party with live music and food trucks, and the 5K awards and costume contest are there at 1 p.m. The Kids Fun Run and Costume Parade, for ages 12 and under, starts at 1:45 p.m. It runs down Town Center Avenue to a haunted house at the Visit Big Sky building, and registration is $20 plus a $2.20 sign-up fee. • Sunday. Día de Muertos at Big Sky Center for the Arts, 77 Lone Peak Drive, runs from noon to 7 p.m. and is free. The community altar opens at noon. The Parade of Catrinas follows a 4 p.m. performance, and DJ QueenE plays a fiesta from 5 to 7. The Arts Council of Big Sky is also hosting a free two-part Cartonería workshop on Thursday, October 8, and Saturday, October 10, for ages 10 and up, with 16 spots. Participants build masks and figures to carry in the parade.

November 2 through 10, day by day

The closures stack up the moment the festival ends. Cowboy Coffee closes on Sunday, November 1, the same day as Día de Muertos. Hero Snow Coffee in Meadow Village closes Monday, November 2. The Waypoint closes Tuesday, November 3. Alberto's, Olive B's, The Wrap Shack, Big Sky Noodles, Michaelangelo's and Scoops are still closed from October. From Tuesday the 3rd through Saturday the 7th, all of these are closed at the same time.

The same week brings one return. Ousel and Spur's closure ends 11/01, so it's back on the dinner list just as the coffee counters go quiet. For morning coffee that week, Unravel Coffee at Gravity Haus serves breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. until its own break starts on 11/9. Caliber Coffee keeps its usual Monday through Saturday hours. In Meadow Village, Country Market opens at 6:30 a.m. every day.

Things start opening again within days. Cowboy Coffee's listed closure ends 11/7, Hero Snow's ends 11/9 and The Waypoint's ends 11/10. The Waypoint is back in time for trivia on Wednesday, November 11, which Explore Big Sky's events calendar lists from 7 to 9 p.m. Throughout November, Town Center's calendar lists Drunken Monk DJ nights every Thursday, November 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 10 p.m. to close. The Waypoint's Monday Hummus & Wine series runs from 4 p.m. to close.

Some kitchens reopen after the lifts do

Big Sky Resort reopens for winter on Wednesday, November 25. Several Town Center and Meadow Village kitchens reopen later. Hero Snow Coffee takes a second break from 11/23 to 11/29, so it's closed during opening week. Scoops lists a return after 11/27. In early December, Big Sky Noodles comes back after 12/2, Alberto's after 12/04, Olive B's after 12/7 and Michaelangelo's Ristorante after 12/09.

So you'll be able to ski Lone Peak for about two weeks before a Michaelangelo's reservation is possible again. If you're planning a dinner for the first weekend guests arrive, check that date against these reopening dates first.

Seasonal hours change, and businesses sometimes adjust them on short notice. Call ahead before you head out, especially during the first week of November.

The team at Life in Big Sky lives through these closures every fall, and we're happy to share our current list of open kitchens with anyone hosting guests or settling in for the winter. Live Big. Connect with our team.
